BELIEVE!! Olamide Is The Most Influential Figure In The Music Industry
There’s not a lot of people in the music industry who can do what Olamide does.
This is a man who has been on the grind for 10 years straight and isn’t stopping anytime soon.
Musically, Olamide is miles ahead of many of your faves and I’m sure the release of “UY Scuti,” will show everyone that Baddo na baba.
But away from all that, the influence he wields in the Industry isn’t just the music he’s dropped, or the shows he’s killed, or the money he has made.
Although, all these things (awards, money, shows) are very important to his career, what makes Olamide the don that he is today is something else. And that is his knack for putting on young artists.
Anywhere, Olamide is respected more because even while he is doing his thing, he doesn’t take all that shine and keep it to himself. From time to time, the “Eyan Mayweather” rapper gives the spotlight to new guys coming up around him.
How many careers have Olamide single handedly lifted? Starting from his exploits with YBNL 1.0 which at some point was one of the most important labels in the industry.
Around 2016, he had Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Viktoh, Chinko Ekun and Temmie Ovwasa on the roster. While all of these guys have since left the label, we all know how Olamide pushed them when they were with him.
Olamide will not just do tracks with his artists, he will also give them spots on his albums. He did it with Lil Kesh, Chinko Ekun, Davolee and others.
And in 2017, at the peak of the YBNL Mafia movement, he made a whole album to introduce his artists. Also putting on artists like Picazo, Yomiblaze, Temmie Ovwasa, Limerick, Davolee and Lil Kesh, the album is best known for kick-starting Fireboy‘s career. Fireboy‘s first hit, “Jealous” was from that album.
But Olamide doesn’t just help artists because they are signed to his label. For a long time Baddo has been doing collabos with any artist that needed support, and word on the streets is that Olamide doesn’t charge for collabos.
From back in the day, Olamide gave Pepenazi his first and only hit, “Ilegal,” gave Small Doctor a boost on “You Know” (in 2015), practically made Naira Marley‘s breakout single, “Issa Goal” in 2017 and so on.
The list of artists that Olamide has put on throughout his career is just endless. There’s Lyta, Dice Ailes, Prettyboy DO, Cheque, Bella Shmurda, BadBoyTimz, Jackmillz, Akuchi and even Omah Lay. And he didn’t even have to sign most of time.
Now “UY Scuti” is coming and Olamide has done it yet again. The 10-track album features only three artists, two of which are new artists; Fave and Layydoe.
For so many people, this will be the first time they’ll hear those names, but because of the boost Olamide‘s gonna give them, it definitely won’t be the last.
